poster series design project

For a graphic design class at SUU, I created a series of event posters inspired by the iconic style of Saul Bass. Known for his bold colors, expressive typography, and striking hand motifs, Bass’s work became the foundation for my designs. I chose to reimagine The Hunger Games series as the theme for a fictional book signing event, blending Bass’s aesthetic with the powerful themes of the novels.

Each poster was crafted with a distinct color palette inspired by the books: red for the first novel, yellow for the second, and blue for the third. I incorporated hand designs into each poster, drawing from Bass’s signature use of this motif to symbolize the series’ themes of rebellion, solidarity, and survival. Typography played a central role in conveying the gravity of the events, while bold, minimalist layouts paid homage to Bass’s style.

Additionally, my work was influenced by the Black Lives Matter movement, channeling the energy of activism and resistance into the designs. This project allowed me to explore the intersection of graphic design, storytelling, and social commentary, creating a visually compelling series that honors both the legacy of Saul Bass and the spirit of The Hunger Games.
