Greek Myths Magazine Project: Hamartia
For this project, I created Hamartia, a magazine inspired by the tragic heroes of Greek mythology and the edgy aesthetic of 2000s grunge. The magazine focuses on the timeless stories of Orpheus, Icarus, and Medea, exploring their moments of downfall and the enduring themes of power, death, and life.
Using a combination of classical and modern imagery, I crafted what I believe to be a visually striking and emotionally impactful piece. The magazine features original artwork by me, including scanned paintings, digital drawings, and photography, blended seamlessly with curated text and visuals by other artists I admire. Earth tones, gold, red, white, and black dominate the design, reflecting the grandeur of Greek tragedy while evoking the raw intensity of the grunge aesthetic.
I relied on Adobe Creative Cloud tools like InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to bring this project to life, ensuring a professional and cohesive design. A mix of bold typography and layered imagery creates a dynamic storytelling experience that bridges the ancient and the modern.
NOTE: This magazine is a personal project created solely for educational purposes as part of my class. While it includes text and images that are not my own, I have credited all original artists in the copyright page. No portion of this magazine will be sold or distributed beyond its intended educational use.
