Original Play Poster & Directing Project

In Fall 2023, I had the privilege of directing an original play adaptation of The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen at Southern Utah University. In addition to directing, I took on the challenge of designing the poster and creating a marketing campaign for the production.

For the poster, I drew inspiration from the book’s original design, incorporating the iconic blue background and crown imagery. However, I gave it an artistic, less realistic twist to reflect the storytelling nature of the show. Throughout the production, cast members broke the fourth wall, engaging the audience as the main character Sage narrated the story. I wanted the poster to capture this playfulness while maintaining the serious undertones and themes of the narrative.

To achieve this, I used high-contrast colors and elegant typefaces that evoked the story's historical setting, striking a balance between whimsy and sophistication. This design project was a creative extension of my directorial work, tying together the visual and theatrical elements of the production.
