Celebrating Disney100 and more Disney News!
The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary this October, so Disney is holding a year long celebration. On Sunday, February 12th during the Super Bowl LVII, Disney premiered a special commercial celebrating its 100 years of success in the entertainment industry. During this commercial, they honor the creators and fans that continually make Disney magic, using Walt Disney’s own quote of “I just want to say a word of thanks, to all the artists, the workers, and all of you. The young, and young at heart. You helped make this dream come true.”
Disney has also announced several new special experiences at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California in order to celebrate this momentous 100th anniversary. These include everything from new and updated parades, attractions, shows, dining, merchandise, to even decorations throughout the parks. I’m so excited to explore some of these unique experiences with you later, but for now here’s a list of what Disney has planned for Disney100!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
On January 27th, a brand new ride attraction arrived in Disneyland’s ToonTown, featuring classic Disney characters Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto! This ride is an immersive experience, putting the rider straight into Mickey Mouse’s cartoon world. With this attraction being newer, the queue for the ride will be available over the Disneyland app, where it will have both a virtual queue and individual Lightning Lane option.
New World of Color Show; “One”
A brand new World of Color nighttime show located at Disneyland California Adverture’s Pixar Pier will debut with these Disney100 celebrations! This new version of World of Color will be the first nighttime spectacular to include moments from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, and Star Wars all in one show! There is both a virtual queue and walk-up option in order to view this new show!
New Limited-Time Platinum Decorations, Merchandise, and Dining Options
As is customary with traditional anniversary celebrations, the use of diamonds, platinum, and the color purple are throughout the Disney parks, Downtown Disney, and the Disney hotels to celebrate the 100th anniversary. With decorative platinum and purple statues, medallions, banners, and exhibits, Disney is decorated especially for this remarkable anniversary. These colors and decorations are even extended to the limited-time merchandise that is for Disney100, including clothing, ears, magicbands, collectable medallions and coins, and new collections of merchandise like the Disney Eras collection that is currently already released. The new Disney100 Decades Collection will be releasing on February 20th, with a new collection releasing the third Monday of every month this year!
There are also new, limited-time specialty food and beverages offered during Disney100. These options include a lemon tea cake, Disney100 celebration cake, Disney100 Blue Bayou champagne glasses, platinum trifles, violet pretzels, sparkling grape beverage, Disney100 churro, a Steamboat Willie milkshake, and more! New Disney100 tumblers, popcorn buckets, sipper cups, mugs, and more will also be available throughout the parks!
